Terms of service
Last changed Oct 17, 2026. JP Companies LLC runs BreakdownBoard. It is a North Carolina company.
1. What this covers
These terms cover the BreakdownBoard app and this website. The Excel tools sold through Gumroad and Etsy are covered by those platforms' checkout terms plus the license in section 12.
2. Your account and your shop
One subscription covers one shop. Your people use the board through a link you give them, with no accounts and no logins of their own. You're responsible for who you hand that link to.
Who owns the board? If two people both say it is theirs, we move it only on proof. That means the state's business record that names the person as a member or manager, and who pays the bill. We email the other person when we do.
3. The trial
The trial is free for 30 days, and a card is needed to start. Your free days start when your card goes in. You don't pay until your shop has logged 5 stops on 2 or more days. If that takes longer than 30 days, your trial stays free until it does, for up to 90 days. We email you a week before the first bill. If your shop never gets there, we email you about a week before day 90. Do nothing, and the trial closes at day 90. You pay nothing. Or tap Start my plan in that email. Your plan starts with that tap. The first bill comes 7 days later, on the card you gave us. After that it is $39 a month until you cancel. Cancel before the first bill and you pay nothing.
Setup is done for you if you want it: reply to your trial-start email with your machine list and shifts, and the shop is set up before you first log in.
4. The price
$39 a month for the whole shop, charged monthly to your card through Stripe. The charge shows as BREAKDOWNBOARD on your statement. Sales tax, where it applies, is added to each bill. We never add other fees.
Are you one of the first 20 shops? Your first 90 days are free, with no card to start. Then you pay $19.50 a month for the rest of your first year. After that, it is $39 a month. Your price stays $39 a month for as long as you stay. That holds if you pause, or if you leave and turn it back on.
After three months you may switch to paying by the year: $390 a year. One of the first 20 shops pays $195 for its first year, then $390 a year. The switch starts on your next bill date. A year renews each year unless you cancel. We email you at least 30 days before. Leave any time, and we send back the year's price, less one month at the monthly price for each month you used. A month you start counts as a month you used.
5. The guarantee
If your first weekly report doesn't find more downtime cost than the board costs, your first paid month is free. And if you're unhappy for any reason in your first 60 days of paying, one button in Account refunds everything you've paid. The 60 days start on your first bill, even if we send that bill back. The free first month and the 60-day money back are for a shop's first time on BreakdownBoard. One of each per shop.
6. The Shop Floor Toolkit
The Toolkit comes with your trial. It's yours to keep, even if you cancel.
7. Referrals
For every shop you bring that pays, you get a free month, and that shop gets one too. Their free month comes off their second bill. Yours is added 60 days after their first bill, if they did not take their money back and both boards are still open. A free month is one month at the price you pay on the day it is added.
A free month comes off your next bill. It has no cash value. We cannot refund it or move it to another account. It stays on your account as long as your account is open. Sales tax, where it applies, is still due.
You cannot refer your own shop, and the shop must be new to BreakdownBoard. If both shops pay with the same card, neither shop gets the free month. We can hold back a free month if a referral breaks these rules. We can also take one back. We can change or end the program. Your code and link are under Bring a shop in the menu.
8. Canceling
Leave any time from Account and take your data with you. Export all of it with one click, before or after. We hold your data 30 days in case you come back, then delete it. If your card stops working, the board pauses. We hold your data 90 days. Then we delete it.
9. Your data is yours
The downtime history, machines, notes, and photos your shop puts on the board belong to your shop. We don't sell them or show them to anyone else. The privacy policy says how we handle them, including the anonymous comparison to shops your size.
10. Support
Tap Report a problem in the app. Our AI gives a quick answer right away. A person reads each message. They write back by noon the next work day at the latest.
11. What we don't promise
We work to keep the board up and your data safe, but no software runs perfectly, and we don't promise uninterrupted service. The board records what your people log; decisions you make from it are yours. Our total liability to you is capped at what you've paid us in the last 12 months.
12. Fair use and the templates license
Don't use the board to break the law, don't try to reach other shops' data, and don't resell access. For the Excel tools: one purchase covers one shop or site. Don't resell the files, post them, or pass them to other companies. Multiple plants, message us.
13. Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we email you before it takes effect. A change here never changes your price. You keep the price in section 4 for as long as you stay. North Carolina law governs. Questions: support@breakdownboard.com.
